So with our current Cloud/VPS provider, through one circumstance or another, we slid into a higher price bracket. This lead us to have to pay a bit more than necessary on the server, as computational and traffic costs are billed on us, while our virtualized hardware (we use a "VPS" plan), is basically as powerfull as your old smartphone from 5 years ago.

With the recent developments here, especially considering our RAM needs, me and our Owner Swammy, want to switch to a different plan, that offers:
- more RAM (we will go up from 2 to 8 GB or so)
- more disk space for backups/file uploads
- and is cheaper (back to a plan of like 8 USD a month).

For that purpose, the server will undergo a planned maintenance window on:
Time: 2026-06-08 02:45:00 UTC
Duration: 0.5 - 4 hours

Thanks to backups, I expect everything to go smoothly.
After the Server Moving I will not immediately be making any significant configuration changes, (that would leverage the additional RAM or the improved disk space). Those will be made in the weeks after the server moving. In essence, expect the Forum to operate the very same way, in the coming 1-2 weeks, in regards to speed and any issues as before, and report any discrepancies, so me and our Owner Swammy can rule out any issues arising from the Server Moving itself.

There was a CC Messup at the server host side (I had to change out CC's and for some reason the old one was still in even though the new one was there as well. And they for some reason didn't attempt the other one automatically).

As Futanari Palace has shrunk considerably in the past years, so has Futanari Palace Staff. So to account for this, a number of Staff have been retired into Knighthood.

Furthermore we thank the Moderators Ambrem, Deus ex Machina, Love Robin, MM9000, mouseGURU, Pr0n_Glutton for their years of service.

In light of this, I encourage Futanari enthusiasts to contact us, if you want to contribute to Futanari Palace as Discord-Moderators, Forum-Moderators or in a Designer/Programmer role (we are looking for people with experience in HTML/CSS).

Logging and Backups made the hard drive, which was at it's limit for some time, become full.

02:01 dxasmodeus reported the issue, via an external communication tool.
10:31 Q started working on the server
10:37 Q determined the cause, being the full hard drive.
10:43 Q made space on the hard drive and restarted the server

4. Resolution & Actions Taken

Old backups were deleted
Server was restarted.

5. Immediate preventative Measures

Make additional space on webserver
Add a command to backend login, that tells the amount of left space in MegaBytes
Add a file `buffer-storage-blocker-for-emergencies.dat` to the root of the filesystem, to that in the future such space can be freed even quicker.

6. Further possible Mitigations:

Create some Alerting capability, to notify the responsible Admins, through e.g. Email.
Mounting variable size directories on a separate volume (e.g. the uploads, the log files and/or the database)

Communication among staff worked well.
There was an absence of monitoring/alerting, that made the little hard drive not as quickly visible.
There is a permanent lack of storage on the server.
