Seeking volunteers for Beta-Testing the Dark-Theme
#21

Yeah, I think it would be overall better going back to the old banners, there were some good ones and I don't see why we wouldn't stick with those over AI Gen stuff

And we really don't need the images on the subforums, both as it seems rather over busy and in dark mode it ends up just making some areas hard to read.

I will admit also to just not liking AI gen stuff

I updated the background graphics of the Sub-Forums in the Dark Theme; I placed them on the top of the sub-forum-categories, as can be seen here:

I will look into the matter of the old banners. I have to fall back on AI 'though as I am no good at drawing.

Yes but...we had banners before. You don't need to make new ones. Hell, if you have issue with them we may not need them at all because as it is, the banners you are generating have nothing to do with the forum content anyways. It just seems like something you're doing just to do it rather than any reason.

Also did we lose the ability to search within a thread?

A fair point. We had an internal debate, and an internal Mock-Up around which I designed the Dark Theme. I mostly tried to implement the internal Mock-Up, which to a large degree worked out somewhat usable. Considering I am the only developer on FP nowadays. The Dark Theme as it is will probably stay similar to what it is right now.

You have good eyes. Indeed. I will try to bring that bit back.

I will probably cease focussing on the dark theme in the near Future, as we have other matters that are important. Like extending the RAM, and reconfiguring the database server, so that global search will work smoothly again. Then I hope to be able to look into the newest MyBB -- there's exciting development happening, beyond version 1.8 right now.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I'm not going to pretend I'm a programmer but is replacing/removing banners that much of a thing? I am legitimately curious, like I said, the ones there are now don't seem to have anything to do with the forum (Just generic anime for the most part) and we used to have a number fitting banners made for this forum, were those lost or something?

Yes. Most of the previous stuff was lost.

Well all the same, I'd probably say it would probably be better without than just rando banners that don't really fit the forum but that's me

I am used to a bunch of workflows around programming: E.g. using Git, using SVN, using vim, using VSCode.

Unfortunately MyBB comes with it's own code editor for html templates and a separate one for css rules. It's all on the Admin Panel, as form submits. And unfortunately it isn't just a plain text file-file-editor. No, the templates save to the database. So I usually spent about 10 minutes finding where to edit which line in that online editor, then testing it by trial and error.

It's doable. But accessing the special admin panel access keys, then roaming over the Themes, changing something and testing it, is something I don't do every day.

On top of that my employer is sucking up my free time right now, so I come home at 9 PM and have to get back to work at 8 AM in the morning, leaving me with like 3 hours for eating, hygiene, meditation, friends and incoming letters and bills.

Now I need to sleep.
