Primal Strength

Story by Raygathex

This is my first story I've ever really written. I hope you all like it. There is more to come.

Part 1

Sara Eva stood on the balcony of the compounds' lookout tower. Beyond her stretched a primordial forest, fern trees as tall as oaks and pines back home in Virginia. She couldn't see them but she could here the calls of the titanosaurs out in the plains beyond the forest. Their songs were beautiful almost like a whales, but more baritone and somber. She finally made it, she got a job working with the research team at the Caldera, the near legendary island discovered nestled in the Pacific Ring of Fire just two years ago. She didn't think she would get the job, in fact getting jobs were hard these days, especially for a transsexual like herself. Even though trans politics were improving in the states, life in the "south" was still a pain. Then she got a job offer from Complex, the corporation funding the research team on Caldera in her email. They need someone willing to help collect field samples and record videos both in the labs and out in the wild.

Dangerous or no she needed the job, the salary was nothing to shake a stick at. One month rotations, thirty days on, sixty days off. Each month was a hundred grand in the bank per rotation. Dream. Job. She did have to get into major shape for the job though, they had strict physical standards and she had to hit the gym for three months to meet their quota. She had been given a tour of the compound earlier and was told to take the rest of the afternoon off and she could start work in the morning. So she enjoyed the sunset, the songs of distant giants and the chirping of who knows what insects. Someone cleared their throat behind her, ruining the mood. She turned to see one of Complex's security personnel behind her, cradling a large and heavy looking assault rifle in his hand.

"Sorry, ma'am," he said in a strong southern accent, Alabama, she thought. The name Edwards was stenciled on his ID badge. "Its gettin' dark. We're locking down for the night. You need to come inside."

With a sigh she came inside so he could swipe his security card and bring down the metal partition. She hadn't been briefed yet on what could break in, but she was sure she'd find out during tomorrows meeting. Sara descended the towers stairs and headed for her bunk in the sleeping quarters over on the west side of the building. Along the way she grabbed a meal from the kitchen, chicken and mashed potatoes. She got to her bunk and pumped into one of her three bunk mates, Allison. Allison was a very athletic redhead from Australia. She was a trained animal handler and veterinarian and was taller than Sara by six inches.

"Looking forward to tomorrow, mate?" Allison closed her locker and with a handful of new clothes started to get undress. Sara turned away to be polite.

"Yeah. Not sure what to expect really though." Sara was uncomfortable, its not that she didn't mind a naked woman in her presence, its just that being both trans and bisexual, with a preference for women made this slightly uncomfortable and didn't want Allison to judge her.

"Its my third rotation here. Just listen to the handler, stick close to the security teams and you will be fine." Allison moved into the bathroom and closed the door. With a sigh of relief Sara quickly changed into sweat pants and a tank top. Plopping onto her lower bunk she began to eat her dinner. Turns out the helicopter bringing the other two bunk mates was delayed due to a storm off the coast and they wouldn't be here for three more days. Fine with her.

The following morning went by easily. She changed into camouflage pants and a green vest, and adorned a tan wide brim hat with a chin strap to help protect her from the sun later. Black hiking boots and her digital camera completed her outfit. She decided to go without a bra, she still only had A-cup breasts. She planned on getting implants after the first or second rotation was over. Breakfast of eggs and whole wheat toast was served in the kitchen. She ate quickly to make the meeting on time. When she entered the main command center of the compound she finally got to meet her employer, Jack Nylds. He wasn't the CEO of Complex, but the head supervisor for the facility on the island. He was a tall and strong looking man, somewhere in his late forties with a neatly trimmed iron grey beard framing his face. Allison and a slew of security guards sat around a large round table with a projector in the center.

"Sara, good to see you, we are just about to begin the briefing." Nylds offered her a chain next to Allison and she took it.

"Okay, I know a lot of you are new here this rotation, and we are short handed due to bad weather off the coastline, but we will make due till then. For now Edwards is in charge of security,
