Chapter one ended up not having any sex in it. I was trying to push in that direction at first, but my mood was not cooperating (you could write this as "my characters weren't cooperating" if you wanted to be all "writing is a magical art" about it).

Since my original poll got shoved into Writing Help just a few days before I finished the first chapter (irony!) the second poll is going to be the one attached to the story thread. Vote to see who Lilith's second slave will be! Ordinarily only one slave from the previous poll would be retained, but since Mina and Tempest tied for second, I'll shove them both in here and eliminate both the lowest results from this poll. You can select multiple options if, for example, you want to vote for something like "anyone but JX-19" rather than specifically voting for a certain slave.

JX-19 is a gynoid created by the mysterious Lord Vindicus who previously owned the house and developed the hidden laboratory beneath it. She was created on the commission of a secluded ninja village and trained to become an expert assassin. As part of her training, she lived undercover in a nearby village for a full year, during which time she became extremely affectionate with a local futa. In order to complete her training, her ninja village demanded that she kill the futa to prove her ruthlessness, but she refused. The ninjas attacked, and she was captured and returned to Lord Vindicus for reprogramming, but not before the ninjas executed her lover in front of her eyes. JX-19 was still in stasis in Vindicus' lab when Lilith found her. Lilith happens to resemble JX-19's old lover, and JX-19 has become a bit obsessed. JX also has elf ears, for not particular reason.

Kunoichi was born into slavery, but she was born into slavery in a ninja village where she was taught the arts of brush magic as well as stealth and assassination. They tried to teach her housekeeping too, but she's really, really awful at it. One night, she was turned by a wandering vampire who had used his hypnotic magic to find his way to the hidden village. Fearful that she might begin to devour the ninjas of the village, they sold her off to a merchant on their next visit to town. Herself fearful that she might become a monster, she made repeated attempts to wander out into sunlight. Eventually she was even successful, but it turns out she's the kind of vampire who only loses their superpowers in the sun, rather than burning to death. She has recovered somewhat from her bouts of despair by the time Lilith purchases her, and while she is still horribly depressed, she is no longer actively seeking to kill herself.

Mina is twenty years old, completely coolheaded, unflappable, with porcelain paleness and fragility. Which is at least partially explained by the fact that she is a vampire. She rarely speaks, but when she does so it is with a French accent. While her quiet nature implies shyness, she is certainly not uncomfortable around people. When it was discovered that she was a vampire, the locals imprisoned her, and then got into a long argument about the proper way to kill a vampire: Fire, beheading, stake through the heart, drowning in holy water. Before they could try out any of the grizzly execution methods, she was saved by Lilith. As is the tradition of her people, Mina pledged a life debt (unlife debt?) to Lilith. Since entering Lilith's service, she has picked up the ability to summon devils. Because everyone needs a hobby.

Tempest's life has been tempestuous. Born as an orphan, she was taken in as a slave in Lilith's household which, all things considered, isn't so bad a fate for an orphan. Slightly worse is when her first love is struck dead by a mysterious heart attack. She has refused to fall in love with anyone else since; it's been two years and she's yet to have another date, and not for lack of trying on the part of the local male population. Loveless though she is, Tempest is a sultry and attractive young woman. She talks like a mafioso but she couldn't mug someone if her life depended on it. Some say this takes the edge off her sex appeal. Others say it makes her razor sharp.
