Study Hard
Story by annon54321
Well, after a long time coming, I finally mustered up the courage (and time ;)) to take a stab at writing a story. This is the first story I have ever written. I wrote most of this while the palace was down last weekend, finishing it up here earlier today. Though it is rather long, please take the time to read it and feel free to let me know what you all think! :)

Study Hard
“I can't believe how cold it is outside,” Toni whispered as she looked out the windows behind her.
Snow was beginning to fall, which was not too uncommon for this time of year. However, the past few days had been unseasonably warm prior to the cold front that was starting to come through. Local weather reports called for much colder temperatures and even some heavy snow in areas.
Sara looked up from her book towards the windows, her straight, long black hair parting to both sides of her face as she looked up. Toni was sitting across from her, and Sara could see the back of her head as she stared out the window. Toni's dark auburn hair was pulled in a ponytail, her preferred style of choice.
“The weather guy said it's supposed to get much colder over the next few days,” Sara responded quietly as she looked back down at her book, her hair falling back in front of her face.
Sara had known Toni for quite some time. They weren't exactly friends, though. Sara didn't really have any of those, as she tended to focus more on studying and tennis than she did her own social life. However, they were both into athletics and played sports for the school.
Sara was big into tennis. She had been playing for the school for the past three years. Toni played for the varsity softball team and had been playing at least that long, though Sara never really thought to ask how long she had played softball. Sara first met Toni at a conditioning camp a few years ago. Since then, they have coincidentally had similar class schedules, often even the same classes together. This year they shared a science class. The teacher had paired them together for a project, assigning them the task of picking a topic and demonstrating it at the upcoming science fair.
“Looks like I'm going to have to get a warmer wardrobe,” Toni smirked as she turned back towards the table, her ponytail whipping behind her head back over her shoulders. She was wearing a black short-sleeve button up shirt that was low cut and very tight. Her letterman jacket was hanging over the chair next to her, her only defense from the cold for today. She was wearing a dark blue pair of jeans that traced every curve of her hips and thighs, complimenting a nice pair of black boots that stopped just shy of her calves.
Sara looked up at her again, her hair parting to both sides of her face. She shook her head, before looking back down at her book again. Sara found her self jealous at times of Toni's “hourglass” figure, and even found her attractive. She had more shape than Sara, but in a good way. Sara wasn't as “endowed” in the chest, hips, and thighs as Toni. She was also a little shorter, more petite. Sara had a plain blue t-shirt on under a dark blue hoodie with a logo on the top left. Her letterman jacket was also hanging over the chair next to her. She wore plain blue jeans and a pair of tennis shoes. While not as stylish as Toni, she figured she was at least warmer.
“Oh, come on, Sara,” Toni whispered, leaning over the table. “You haven't said much of anything since we got here.”
“That's because we are supposed to be finding a project for the fair,” Sara said, not taking her eyes away from the book in front of her.
Sara wasn't as social as Toni, either. Toni was much more popular at school, and had more friends than her as well. Sara tried to think if she had any friends. In her mind, she didn't. Those that she did interact with were more like “acquaintances” than friends. She didn't have a lot of time for friends. Between studying and tennis, she didn't feel like she had a need for friends. Her closest “friend” was her doubles partner, Taylor. They would hang out together at practices and matches, but even then, it was mostly tennis talk. Outside of that, they really didn't interact.
Toni picked up her phone, and begin to fiddle around with it. “Well, what kind of ideas do you have, Sara?” she asked softly as she poked around on her screen.
“Well, I was thinking we could do something about photosynthesis, or talk about mineral levels in several types of bottled water, or-”
“Borrrrringgggg!” Toni interrupted, sitting her phone down. “See, that's why no one really talks to you. You're too smart for your own good, Sara,” she said, leaning over the table. Sara looked up at her, somewhat shocked at Toni's observation.
“Fine. You pick something since you seem to have all the ideas and know everything.”
“Well,” Toni thought, looking up, “we shou
